Mbappe at the double as PSG thump Lyon away

Reuters, LYON, France, September 3 - On Sunday, Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Paris St. Germain cruised to a 4-1 away victory over Olympique Lyonnais, giving them their second victory of the new Ligue 1 campaign.

Mbappe scored the fourth goal soon before halftime after converting a fourth-minute penalty kick to give PSG eight points from four games, moving them into second place, two points behind Monaco.

Following the penalty kick, which was given when Corentin Tolisso, the home team's captain, scythed down Manuel Ugarte, Achraf Hakimi scored in the 20th minute following a one-two with Ousmane Dembele.

In the 38th minute, Marco Asensio made it 3-0 before Mbappe demonstrated PSG's superiority with the fourth.

For the home team, who have one point from their first four games and coach Laurent Blanc's job in doubt, Tolisso scored a second-half consolation goal from the penalty spot.

Yusuf Yazici's free kick gave Lille the lead in the second minute, and the team held on to defeat Montpellier at home by a score of 1-0. Montpellier thought they had equalized when Kelvin Yeboah scored in the 88th minute, but VAR disallowed the goal.

Nice defeated Racing Strasbourg 2-0 to get their first victory of the season after three straight draws. Youcef Atal opened the scoring with a left-footed effort just before halftime, and Terem Moffi added a second goal in the 75th minute.

Le Havre, the Ligue 2 champions from the previous campaign, won for the first time this campaign as well with a convincing 3-0 home victory over Lorient, who suffered their first loss.
