Republican Rep. Nancy Mace has sparked backlash after repeatedly mispronouncing Vice President Kamala Harris’ identify throughout an look on CNN.

Social media customers had been fast to blast Mace, with some accusing her of being racist in direction of Harris, the primary Black lady and individual of South Asian descent to function vice chairman and the Democratic nominee for president.

Mace hit again on the criticism on X, writing: “The Left would slightly speak about pronouns and pronunciation than coverage.”
Her workplace and the Harris marketing campaign has been contacted for remark through e-mail.
On NewsNight, the panel rapidly turned heated after Mace repeated mispronunciations of Harris’ first identify.
“I simply did and I am going to do it once more,” Mace stated when Michael Eric Dyson, a professor at Vanderbilt College, pointed it out.
“If I purposely mispronounced your identify, that may not be acceptable,” Keith Boykin, a political commentator and the co-founder of the Nationwide Black Justice Coalition, then instructed Mace.
Dyson instructed Mace: “You are normalizing that type of viciousness, ma’am. You are disrespecting the girl.”
Later within the section, Dyson stated: “This congresswoman is a superb human being.
