Kobe Bryant is an American professional basketball player (August 23, 1978 – January 26, 2020). As a point guard, he spent his entire career in the National Basketball Association ( NBA) with the Los Angeles Lakers. Regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Bryant won five NBA championships and was an 18-time All-Star, a 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, a 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team, the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), and a two-time NBA Finals MVP. Bryant also led the NBA in scoring twice and ranks fourth on the league’s all-time regular-season scoring and all-time postseason scoring lists.
Born in Philadelphia and raised partly in Italy, Kobe Bryant was recognized by the Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania as a top secondary basketball player in the United States.
Former NBA player Joe Bryant’s uncle, after graduation he entered the NBA draught of 1996 and was picked by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th overall selection, which he then traded to the Lakers.

Early Life of Kobe Bryant
The youngest of three kids and only son of the former NBA player Joe Bryant and Pamela Cox Bryant was born in Philadelphia. He was also an NBA player’s mother’s nephew, John “Chubby” Cox. His parents named him after Kobe’s famous beef, Japan that they saw on the menu of a restaurant. His middle name Bean was taken from his father’s “Jellybean” nickname. He still followed his religion and his family was Catholic.
Kobe Bryant began playing basketball when he was three, and as he grew up, the Lakers became his favorite team. When Bryant was six years old, his father retired from the NBA and relocated his family to Rieti, Italy, to continue to play basketball at a lower level. They moved to Reggio Calabria, then Pistoia and Reggio Emilia after two years.
Kobe Bryant became acquainted with his new lifestyle and learned to speak Italian fluently. He especially loved Reggio Emilia, a place he considered to be loving and where some of his best memories of his childhood were made. While in Reggio Emilia, Bryant started to play basketball seriously.

In the summer, Bryant will return to the USA to participate in a summer basketball league. When Bryant was 13, he moved back to Philadelphia with his family, where he enrolled in middle school in Bala Cynwyd in the eighth grade.
Kobe Bryant received national recognition at the Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, in the Philadelphia suburb of Lower Merion during his stellar high school career. He played as a freshman on the basketball team. Bryant became the first new man in decades to start for the varsity team of Lower Merion but the team completed with a record of 4–20.
The Aces accumulated a 77-13 record over the next three years with Kobe Bryant playing all five positions. During his junior year, he has averaged 31.1 points, ten rebounds, five.2 assists, three.8 blocks and two.3 stolen. In his high school year, Bryant led the Aces in 53 years to their first state championship. In the season, he had on average 30.8 points, 12 assists, 6.5 helps, 4 steals, and 3.8 blocked shots leading the Aces to a record of 31–3. Bryant finished secondary education as the all-time leader of Southeastern Pennsylvania with 2,883 points that exceeded both Wilt Chamberlain and Lionel Simmons.
Bryant won many honors for his excellent results in Lower Merion during his senior year. Among them were the Naismith High School Player of the Year, the Gatorade Men’s College Basketball Player of the Year, the McDonald’s All-American, the all-American first-team Parade, and the USA Today’s All-US First Team selection. The varsity coach of Bryant, Greg Downer, said that, while the team is the leading player, he was “a full player who dominates” and commended his work ethic.
Kobe Bryant introduced R&B singer Brandy to his senior position in 1996. Finally, Bryant, the 17-year-old, chose to join the NBA directly, becoming just the sixth player in the NBA’s history. The news of Bryant was widely publicized at a time when prepared NBA players were not very popular (Garnett is the only exception in 20 years).

Los Angeles Lakers (1996–2016)

Kobe Bryant was investigated for sexual harassment in the following season and thus missed several games after a court appearance. But he led his side to the NBA final and lost it to the Detroit Pistons. Bryant signed a seven-year contract with the Lakers. The 2004/05 season was a difficult one for Bryant since he was mostly criticized by former Lakers coach Jackson, who called him ‘uncoachable,’ Bryant and teammates Karl Malone and Ray Allen were the key critics. In the 2006–07 NBA season, Bryant changed his jersey number from 8 to 24. Bryant was the youngest player to score 20,000 points when he was 29 in December 2007. He went on to win the MVP and was picked by the All-NBA team unanimously. In the next season, Bryant earned First Team and First Team All-NBA honors.
In the season of 2008/09, Bryant earned his fourth NBA championship and his first NBA Finals MVP. Bryant signed a 3-year agreement with the Lakers in April 2010. Bryant was the fifth winner of the NBA and the NBA Finals MVP.
In the 2010-2011 season, Bryant won 27,000 points and received the All-Star MVP, making Bryant the youngest player to score 30,000 points in the next season.

Bryant signed a two-year contract extension worth $48.5 million in November 2013. A knee injury hindered his season. Bryant revealed in November 2015 that he would retire at the end of the season. He got 1.9 million votes in the 2016 All-Star game and became the oldest player in an NBA game to score 60 points or more.

In November 1999 Bryant met his then-begotten wife, Vanessa Laine. They married in April 2001, while Bryant’s parents hadn’t attended the wedding. His first daughter, born in 2003, ended his matrimony quarrels with his parents. His wife suffered a miscarriage in 2005 but was conceived in 2006. His third child was born in 2016 and revealed that he was leaving for his fourth child in 2019.
After being sued in 2003 with sexual assaults, Bryant suffered greatly, but the charges were dismissed in September 2004 after the accuser declined to testify.

Kobe Bryant Death
Along with eight others, Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas in California on 26 January 2020, as per TMZ Sports. His daughter, Gianna Maria Onore, was also confirmed to be on board and died in the helicopter crash. His wife, Vanessa, and three of her daughters – Natalia, Bianca, and Capri, their newborn, survived Bryant.
