MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Billie Jean King is a 39-time Grand Slam champion and an equal rights champion — and now she’s getting the Breakfast of Champions remedy. The twice-inducted tennis Corridor of Famer will seem on a limited-edition field of Wheaties.
The cereal maker introduced Thursday that the orange packages with King on the quilt will likely be out there at shops across the U.S. later this month.
“I’ve devoted my life to equality for all, uplifting these round me and galvanizing women and girls, particularly, to dream massive,” King stated. “This field seems like a full circle second as we have fun the subsequent era of champions.”
King was a driving pressure behind the creation of the ladies’s skilled tennis tour, equal prize cash for ladies and men, and the passage of Title IX.
The 80-year-old American gained a complete of 39 titles throughout singles, ladies’s doubles and blended doubles at Grand Slam tournaments throughout her enjoying profession.
She was elected to the Worldwide Tennis Corridor of Fame in 1987 for her on-court success after which was inducted once more in 2021 as a part of the Unique 9, the group of ladies who laid the groundwork for the WTA Tour.
