Darren Aronofsky is trying to reteam together with his The Whale studio A24, and is talks to direct Dwayne Johnson within the function Breakthrough, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The logline for the movie reads: “In turn-of-the-millennium Southern California, an alienated younger man comes beneath the affect of a motivational guru, whose intoxicating allure masks his morally questionable strategies of manipulation and his personal hid darkness.” Johnson might be enjoying a supporting position within the movie.
A24 will produce and finance actor-writer Zeke Goodman.
Stacey Sher’s Shiny Penny Productions will produce with Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions. Jacob Epstein and Justin Wolf will govt produce through Lighthouse Administration and Media.
This would be the second A24 undertaking for Johnson, who stars in Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine, which is due out this October. Johnson, who is understood for family-friendly fare like Jungle Cruise and Pink One, has been organising initiatives with auteur administrators as of late. He’s set to star in a Hawaii-set mob epic with Emily Blunt and Leonardo DiCaprio from director Martin Scorsese.
Aronofsky will quickly launch crime thriller Caught Stealing.
