Stellantis recalls 1.5M Ram trucks to fix software bug that can disable stability control
DETROIT (AP) — Stellantis is recalling almost 1.5 million Ram pickup vans worldwide to repair a software program drawback that may disable the digital stability management system.
The recall covers sure vans from the 2019 and 2021 by 2024 mannequin years, principally in North America.
Stellantis stated in a press release Saturday that the vans could have anti-lock brake software program that would inadvertently shut down the steadiness management, which manages the throttle and brakes to keep away from skidding.
If that occurs, the corporate stated the brakes would nonetheless work. Stellantis stated it’s not conscious of any crashes or accidents from the issue.
U.S. security requirements require digital stability management to work throughout almost all phases of driving, the corporate says.
