CLEVELAND – Two members of the Ohio baseball staff have been chosen for the 2024 Mid-American Convention Baseball Postseason Honors. Senior Gideon Antle (Licking, Mo.) earned All-MAC Second Workforce honors and freshman JR Nelson (Vernon Hills, Unwell.) was named to the MAC All-Defensive Workforce.
Gideon Antle was named to the All-MAC Second Workforce after taking part in and beginning in 48 video games this season for Ohio. Antle completed the season with 37 runs, 48 RBI’s, 69 hits together with 17 doubles, one triple and 10 house runs. He recorded a season .350 batting common, .549 slugging proportion, .398 on base proportion and .976 fielding proportion. Antle kicked off the season by being named the MAC Co-Participant of the Week (Feb. 19) after ending opening weekend 11-for-15 (.733) on the plate with three doubles, two house runs, 4 runs scored and 4 RBI’s. Following the conclusion of the common season, the senior ranked fourth within the MAC for doubles, eighth for batting common and 10th for hits.
JR Nelson was named to the MAC All-Defensive Workforce after taking part in and beginning in 49 video games in his debut season with Ohio. The freshman shortstop tallied 59 putouts, 124 assists and solely seven errors. He recorded a season-high 4 putouts at Virginia Tech (Could 4) and 6 assists at Japanese Michigan (April 14). On the finish of the common season, Nelson ranked sixth within the convention for assists. Offensively, Nelson compiled 35 runs, 13 RBI’s, 12 stolen bases, 62 hits together with 10 doubles and 13 RBI’s. He recorded a .312 batting common, .377 slugging proportion and .381 on base proportion. Nelson additionally ranked 16th within the convention for hits
