Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White acknowledged on Wednesday that Lexie Hull has been “struggling with confidence.” Despite her shooting woes, White has decided to stick with the veteran in her starting lineup. The 6-foot-1 shooting guard has started 36 straight games for the Fever this season.
Hull is averaging 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 19.0 minutes per game. She is shooting 43.9% from the field and 34.8% from distance. However, Hull has struggled with her shot of late. She has been held scoreless in three out of Indiana’s last six games.

White, though, commended Hull for keeping her head up throughout her rough stretch. The former WNBA Coach of the Year justified her decision to stick with Hull as her starting shooting guard by highlighting what she brings to the table. “She impacts us winning, especially on the defensive end of the floor,” White said.

When asked about her struggles, Hull remained steadfast.
“I think there’s just so much beauty in the process,” Hull told reporters on Thursday during practice.

“For me, the work never stops regardless of if I’m getting five shots in a game, no shots in a game, making five, missing, whatever. I come in here before every practice and get shots up.
“So I think for me, that’s just the focus. And that’s how I keep my confidence, knowing that the work’s getting put in.”
Hull busted out of her funk on Sunday against the Chicago Sky. She scored 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting with two three-pointers. This marked her first double-digit scoring game since July 9.

“I think it’s just, again, trusting the process and the fruit will show eventually,” she said of her performance in Indiana’s 113-90 win over Chicago.
“It’s being less worried about when that will come, when games like that will come, but just continuing to put in the effort and enjoying the process and knowing that my role on this team changes game by game.
“So just being able to be ready whenever my number’s called.”

Hull emphasized how her teammates have supported her by “continuing to reaffirm me and telling me that my role is important and to just keep being me.”
When asked if she plans to tweak anything about her shooting form, Hull responded defiantly. “No, just keep grinding,” she stated.
The Fever are back in action on Friday. They will host the Connecticut Sun in their first home game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse following a four-game road trip.
