BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti told reporters this week that the environment at Memorial Stadium is worth at least 14 points.
The No. 6 Hoosiers success under Cignetti has transformed the venue into one of the toughest places to play in the country and the numbers back it up.
How long is Indiana football’s home winning streak
Under Cignetti, Indiana football is 15-0 in home games. The program’s 15-game home win streak is a program record and the nation’s longest such streak. The programs with the next longest home win streak are Ohio (13 games) and Ole Miss (11 games).
The Hoosiers have won at home by a wide margin throughout Cignetti’s tenure as well. They have all but one game by double digits — a 20-15 win over Michigan in 2024 — and have an average margin of victory of 37.9 points.
Indiana hasn’t dropped a game at Memorial Stadium since a 24-21 loss to Michigan State in 2023.
Did Indiana football sell out its season opener against North Texas
The Hoosiers sold out all eight home games they have on their schedule for 2026. The game against North Texas is the first non-conference matchup to sell out at Memorial Stadium since 2021.
It’s only the second time in program history IU has sold out all of its home games.
Since the venue expanded in 1970, Indiana has sold out 26 games, with eight of those coming in the last two years.
What is Indiana football’s overall record under Curt Cignetti
The Hoosiers are 27-2 with Cignetti as coach with the most wins of any team in the FBS during the stretch and tied for the fewest losses. Ohio State and Oregon have the next best record from 2024-25 at 26-2.
Indiana has never won more games over a two-year stretch in program history. The team twice won 16 games over two years, 1944-45 and 1987-88.
Cignetti, who has a career record of 146-37, has never had a losing season in 14 seasons as coach. He already ranks eighth in program history in wins.
