South Africa vs. Australia 3rd Test Live Score & Updates

Hello everyone, and welcome to the live blog for the South Africa vs. Australia 3rd Test at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.

Toss result:

Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Pre-match:

South Africa will lock horns with Australia in the third and final Test of the series at Newlands, Cape Town, starting October 27. The Proteas levelled the contest at 1-1 with a commanding win in Gqeberha, which means the trophy now depends on one final game.

Australia had won the first Test in Durban by a huge margin, and South Africa then roared back to answer in the same way. The Proteas won by an innings and 31 runs at St George’s Park in Gqeberha, even though the morning session on the last day was washed out and they were without frontline bowler Anrich Nortje.

WTC holders South Africa wrapped up their rain-affected first innings late on day three, helped by captain Temba Bavuma’s 179 and Marco Jansen’s rapid 85. Australia were then shot out for 99 in their first innings, with Jansen taking 5-33, and they were forced to follow on.

Remarkably, they lost 13 wickets in total on Wednesday. South Africa’s pace attack did lose Nortje to a suspected groin injury in his fourth over, and he did not bowl again in Australia’s second innings.
