‘Severance’ Season 3 Release Date Info: When Is Season 3 Of ‘Severance’ Coming Out?

Much like the Lumon Industries egg bar, Severance Season 3 is coveted AF — especially since fans of Apple TV’s Emmy-winning workplace thriller have already been waiting a year and seven months for new episodes.

For those who need a refresher, there was nearly a three-year gap between Severance Season 1 and Severance Season 2, which is why fans are extra curious about Season 3’s release date.

In an interview with Decider ahead of Season 2, star and EP Adam Scott echoed director Ben Stiller’s prior comments, noting that the delay was partially due to a pursuit of quality. “Something that’s been so gratifying is that the fans really go deeply into this show. They really study the details. So I’m just so glad that the show is made with such care, and we pay attention to every single detail,” Scott told Decider. “Everything is scrutinized. So we hope that the fans know the detail with which they care about the show — we take that attention to detail when making the show.”

We absolutely love that Severance‘s team is so committed to quality. But Season 2, Episode 10 left fans on the edge of their seats wondering what the heck is in store for Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), Irving (John Turturro), Milchick (Tramell Tillman), Gemma (Dichen Lachman), and the rest of the Lumon Industries crew. So we’re also eager to know the innies and outies of Severance Season 3!

Will there be a Season 3 of Severance on Apple TV? When is Severance Season 3’s release date? Has Severance Season 3 started filming? And what will Severance Season 3 be about? Here’s what to know about the future of Apple TV’s hit series.

Will There Be A Season 3 Of Severance On Apple TV? Severance Season 3 Renewal Status:

Praise Kier! Apple TV announced a Severance Season 3 renewal on Friday, March 21, one day after Season 2’s finale dropped.

“Making Severance has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of,” executive producer and director Ben Stiller said in a statement. “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making season three will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast & crew, Apple and the whole Severance team,” star and EP Adam Scott added. “Oh hey also — not a huge deal — but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”

And Erickson added, “The idea of getting to make more Severance with the greatest cast and crew on Earth is more thrilling to me than all the world’s finger traps combined. I can’t wait to continue spreading woe, frolic, dread and malice with these truly incredible people.” Aww!

When Is Severance Season 3 Coming Out? Severance Season 3 Release Date Info:

Like the work at Lumon Industries, the Severance Season 3 release date is mysterious and important. By that, we mean no official Severance Season 3 premiere date has been announced yet. But since production on Season 3 is already underway, we have our fingers crossed for a 2027 release date rather than early 2028. Remember when Stiller went on Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast and said, “The plan is not to [wait three years].” I’m clutching to those words for dear life…

Using the Season 1 to Season 2 timeline, Forbes attempted to estimate an approximate Season 3 release date, noting, “Severance Season 2 was filmed over about six months, ending in April 2024 (there was a large gap of time carved out due to strikes), then there were eight months of post-production. So, July 2026 + 6 months of filming + 8 months of post-production = September 2027 for a likely release date.”

For anyone counting, that would bring us to a two-year and eight-month gap between Season 2 and Season 3. But again, each season is different, which means Season 3 could wind up premiering earlier or later than anticipated. Stay tuned for updates!

Has Severance Season 3 Started Filming?

Yes! Severance Season 3 production reportedly kicked off in late July 2026. (Stiller and cast posted this wise Kier Eagan quote: “To return to work is to return home.”

Since then, filming at Bell Works in New Jersey, aka the fictional Lumon Industries, commenced. Fans even snagged a few BTS videos, but in the spirit of a spoiler-free Season 3 experience, we’re not sharing them here. We have yet to hear that production has stopped, but here’s hoping it wraps by the end of December. Again, stay tuned for updates!

In the meantime, if you need a refresher on Severance‘s Season 2 finale, Decider’s got you covered. As for Season 3’s plot, it will hopefully pick up after all those jaw-dropping cliffhangers.

In Season 2’s penultimate episode, Burt saved Irving by banishing him from Kier. Both beloved characters have unfinished storylines and lots more to explore. So we can’t wait to see what Season 3 has in store! After Lumon did him dirty all season, an exhausted Milchick ended the season surrounded by a room full of his subordinates ready to fight for their rights. Will Milchick join the rebellion and abandon his loyalties to the company like Cobel, or double down on his duties in a last-ditch effort to save his job? That’s a Season 3 reveal as well.

The biggest finale surprise by far unfolded in the episode’s final minutes, when Innie Mark successfully helped Ms. Casey escape the Severed Floor. She stepped out into the exit stairwell and switched back to Gemma, but when she called for Mark to do the same, he hesitated. Helly appeared at the end of the hall, shouted his name, and he decided to betray his outie’s trust and pursue his own love story. Leaving Gemma behind, he grabbed Helly’s hand and the two made a run for it down Lumon’s twisty halls as the alarm blared and red lights flashed overhead. So what happens next? What is Lumon’s grand mysterious plan for the severance procedure? And how far does the corruption span? We’ll have to wait and see…
