As Saturday Night Live‘s Season 52 premiere quickly approaches, all eyes are on The 78th Emmy® Awards airing Monday, September 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. During the telecast hosted by Mariska Hargitay, SNL will learn if it will add another Emmy to its record-setting collection.
The show is up for Outstanding Variety Series in 2026. SNL last won in that category in 2025, when it took the then-named Outstanding Scripted Variety Series honor.
This week, SNL shared big news: Knicks star Jalen Brunson will host the Season 52 premiere with Musical Guest KATSEYE on Saturday, September 26, live across time zones at 11:30 ET/10:30 C/8:30 PT on NBC and Peacock.

Is there a new episode of SNL tonight, September 12?
No. A previously-aired Season 51 episode will air in tonight’s 11:30 p.m. ET time slot on NBC and Peacock. But new SNL episodes are just two weeks away!
Here’s the early fall schedule for the first four episodes of Season 52:
- September 26: Host Jalen Brunson with Musical Guest KATSEYE
- October 3: Host Dakota Johnson with Musical Guest Turnstile
- October 10: Host Shane Gillis with Musical Guest Rosalía
- October 17: Host Inde Navarrette with Musical Guest Gracie Abrams

Who is the Host and Musical Guest for tonight’s September 12, 2026 SNL episode?
NBC is airing Ryan Gosling’s March 7, 2026 episode, with Gorillaz making their SNL debut as Musical Guest.
Gosling, who was promoting his film Project Hail Mary, delivered chaotic sketches like “Wedding Tradition,” “Cyclops,” “The Goo Goo Man,” and the viral “Passing Notes.” It saw the SNL writers play a live on-air prank on Gosling and Season 51 cast member Ashley Padilla, in which they’d switched the actors’ notes from what they were in rehearsal.

“Thank you to Mikey [Day], Streeter [Seidell], and Alison Gates for absolutely destroying me on live television,” Padilla wrote in a March 8 Instagram Story, citing the writers behind the sketch. “P.S. Gosling is the funniest person on the planet.”
