If you know Ben Affleck, you probably know he’s got a younger, fellow Oscar-winning brother called Casey Affleck.

Casey is three years younger than Ben, and the two brothers have five children between them. Ben shares three kids with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, while Casey has two sons with Summer Phoenix, with whom he was married for 10 years.

At 22 and 18, Casey’s sons, Indiana and Atticus Affleck, are slightly older than Ben’s kids, and the two boys are already beginning to follow in their dad’s — and Uncle’s — showbiz footsteps.

This week, Casey was at the Venice Film Festival to celebrate the premiere of his new movie Company, which he directed. Both Indiana and Atticus have roles in the film, and Tuesday’s premiere was a true family affair.

Ben was there in proud uncle/brother mode, snapping pictures on the red carpet. Indiana was also in attendance, however, Atticus was not — which I guess makes sense when you consider that Atticus’s appearance in the film is apparently relatively brief.

Here’s Indiana and Ben.

Let’s also just bear in mind that one of the last times Indiana was photographed in public with his dad was in 2017, when he looked like this.

Now, I don’t know about you, but the Affleck family genes are looking strong to me! And Indiana’s red carpet appearance has reminded people that he’s also part of another very famous Hollywood family.

If the name sounded familiar, Casey’s ex-wife, Summer Phoenix, is an actor herself and the youngest sibling of River, Rain, Joaquin, and Liberty Phoenix, which gives Indiana and Atticus a very talented lineup of uncles and aunts on their mom’s side.

On Instagram, people have also pointed out a “strong” resemblance to the Phoenix side of the family, particularly Joaquin. (I see it!)

One user on Instagram wrote, “The nephew of Joaquin and River Phoenix, his destiny is laid out for him” — and it sounds like they could be right, as Indiana’s performance in Company is already receiving high praise.

In a review of the movie, Deadline said that Indiana’s “mesmerizing” performance “signals the birth of yet another acting star in the family,” which is ironic when you learn that his casting in the film was pretty much sheer convenience.

“I was sitting around the house doing read-throughs of this script over and over, and I would have my two kids read the younger and older teens, and they were fantastic,” Casey recalled during a press conference in Venice, noting that there was trouble finding actors to play the younger parts. “I got to the point where I was there in pre-production and I had a cast and film and they were willing to show up and do it.”

“They were amazing,” the Oscar winner added, “and it made it the best professional experience of my life by far because I got to work every day with my kids and hang around. I would do it over and over again if I could.”
