Shintaro Cho and Yuri Itakura, former managers of 31-year-old East Village standby Sake Bar Decibel on Ninth Avenue, have opened their very own place on the Decrease East Facet.

Sake Bar Asoko blends Cho and Yuri’s distinctive notion of sake with their adolescent experiences rising up in Heisei-era Japan and their passions for vogue, music, and analog cultures. Sake Bar Asoko goals to teach and reintroduce patrons to the world of sake and provoke newfound relationships with Japanese shochu and conventional otsumami plates with a twist.
