Naomi Osaka is known for making an entrance when it comes to her match day outfits.
The tennis star, who is currently ranked world No. 13 by the WTA, has become just as famous for her style as she has for her athletic prowess.

Osaka is from Osaka, Japan, and she frequently pays homage to her Japanese heritage with her outfits. The mom of one has even helped design some of her ensembles over the years.
“Sometimes people say athletes are in show business or entertainers or whatever,” she said during a post-game press conference at the 2026 French Open, per Reuters. “For me, Grand Slam walk-ons are the only time that I possibly feel like I’m an entertainer.”

In 2024, Osaka made her triumphant return to the US Open after going on maternity leave in a green and white ensemble designed by Yooh Ahn and Nike.

Worn by Osaka during her first-round singles match on day two of the tournament, the look featured a white windbreaker with a large green bow, a green tutu with white tulle ruffles and a matching green visor.
“The inspiration that fueled the look for me — and this might be a Japanese term — is feeling like a ‘magical girl’ on the court,” Osaka told Nike at the time. “There’s a moment of transformation for me when I walk onto the court, and I have a lot of fun playing, so wanting everyone who sees the outfit to connect with that feeling is a really big motivation for me.”

The 2025 French Open

The following year, Osaka stepped out at the 2025 French Open in another show-stopping Nike ensemble.

Rendered in blush pink, the tennis kit featured a layered ruffle skirt paired with a matching maroon-and-pink varsity jacket. Osaka’s hair accessories were a nod to the Japanese comic Sailor Moon and her shoes were inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms, a.k.a. sakura.
“The shoes are sakura-themed, which is I guess just in time for spring, which is sakura season,” Osaka said at the time, per Tennis.com. “It follows the flower story that we have throughout the year.”

The 2025 US Open

Osaka returned to the US Open in 2025 wearing a matching orange set from Nike that featured glittering mesh panels and a tiered bubble skirt. In a post-game press conference, she told reporters that planning her outfit for the match was a “little chaotic.”

“It was really elaborate because the crystals are really hard to do on a performance outfit,” Osaka said.
As for accessories, she paired the look with a bedazzled Labubu named “Billie Jean Bling” after tennis legend Billie Jean King.

The 2026 Australian Open

Ahead of her first-round singles match on day three of the 2026 Australian Open, Osaka made an entrance in a jellyfish-inspired look designed by her and Robert Wun in collaboration with Nike.
The ensemble featured a white pleated skirt layered over matching pants, a blue-and-green textured minidress and a white wide-brim hat over which she draped a gauzy white veil. The athlete also carried a small white umbrella as she walked onto the court.

Osaka explained to Vogue at the time that the inspiration for the outfit came from a book she had read to her daughter, Shai. “There was an image of a jellyfish, and when I showed it to her she got so excited,” she told the outlet.

Osaka embraced animal print at the 2026 BNP Paribas Open in a tennis dress designed by Nike. The one-piece look featured a cheetah pattern against a lime green backdrop. Osaka finished off the look with a black Nike visor.
Pre-match, the tennis star also sported some custom jewelry from Filipino-American designer Chris Habana, including ear cuffs and a gold mouthpiece.

“He’s created these really layered pieces for artists that feel expressive, but also intentional,” Osaka said of Habana in an interview with Vogue at the time. “I loved the idea of bringing that energy onto the court.”

Osaka opted for another layered ensemble at the 2026 French Open. Stepping out on day three of the tournament, the athlete made a statement in a black corset and a floor-length black pleated skirt, both of which were designed by Swiss couturier Kevin Germanier.
She then shed her top layer to reveal a gold Nike tennis dress with a ruffled, sequined skirt.

“I feel like fashion, for me, I tell people, I don’t talk a lot, so that way I can talk through my clothes,” Osaka said in a press conference at the time. “That means I can be as loud with colors or patterns or fabric as I want.”

The 2026 Wimbledon Championships

Though Wimbledon has a strict all-white dress code, Osaka didn’t let that stop her from getting creative. On day one of the tournament, the tennis star debuted a layered look inspired by a Japanese ceremonial dress: the kimono.
Osaka collaborated with Tokyo-based designer Hana Yagi on the ensemble, which was covered in embroidered cranes and cherry blossoms. She paired it with a long ruffled skirt, styling her hair with a traditional kanzashi hair ornament. Underneath, Osaka wore an all-white Nike tennis kit.

During an on-court interview after her match, Osaka also revealed the pop culture inspiration behind the look: Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill.
“I was thinking about my favorite movies. I love Kill Bill, and then I remembered absolutely falling in love with Lucy Liu’s character, and she has an all-white kimono. I remember thinking that was really cool and amazing,” she said, per Reuters and WTA Tennis.
