Winter Weather Advisory: A trace to 2 inches possible for areas across Cincinnati

ALL RIGHT, LET’S CHECK IN WITH METEOROLOGIST ADAM BURNISTON. I KNOW WE’RE GETTING SOME FLURRIES, BUT I HOPE NOTHING LIKE THAT. YEAH, IT SHOULDN’T BE ANYWHERE CLOSE TO THAT IN OUR AREA. IF IT IF IT WAS, SOMETHING HAS GONE SERIOUSLY WRONG FOR OUR AREA. BUT OVERALL WE ARE TRACKING SOME SNOW OUT THERE THIS WEEKEND. AND IT’S FROM THIS SYSTEM COMING IN FROM THE WEST WITH SOME MIXING IN THERE AS WELL, WHICH MAKES IT A LITTLE TRICKY FOR US. IF YOU’RE WANTING SNOW AT LEAST TO GET MUCH SNOW WITH THIS KIND OF SETUP FOR US. SO WE HAVE THIS SYSTEM OUT TO THE WEST, YOU SEE THAT MIXING OF RAIN TO SNOW AROUND KANSAS CITY INTO NORTHERN MISSOURI THAT’S MOVING OUR WAY BASICALLY DIRECTLY EAST, AND WE’RE GOING TO BE RIGHT ON THAT EDGE OF SEEING SOME SNOW, BUT ALSO SEEING THAT MIXING OVER TO RAIN AS WE GO THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING AND INTO SUNDAY MORNING. SO RIGHT NOW WE HAVE A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN PLACE FOR PARTS OF WARREN, BUTLER AND OHIO COUNTY IN OHIO STATE, FRANKLIN AND UNION COUNTIES IN INDIANA. SO THAT WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY BEGINS 7 A.M. THROUGH 9 A.M. ON SUNDAY. NOW 7 A.M. IT WON’T BE HERE YET INTO OUR AREA. IN FACT, THE BIGGEST IMPACTS NOT REALLY COMING UNTIL AFTER SUNSET. WE MAY STILL SEE A FEW SNOW SHOWERS THERE THROUGH THE EARLY AFTERNOON HOURS FOR PARTS OF OUR AREA, ESPECIALLY NORTH. BUT WHILE THAT COULD LEAD TO A LIGHT COATING, MAYBE A FEW SLICK SPOTS, THE LARGER IMPACT REALLY COMING AT US AS WE GO INTO SATURDAY NIGHT CLOSER TO SEVEN 8:00 WE’LL START TO SEE SOME SNOW SHOWERS START TO MAKE THEIR WAY IN, AND WHILE THIS MODEL KEEPS SOME OF THOSE HEAVIER BANDS EVEN STRETCHING A LITTLE FURTHER SOUTH, WHILE WE COULD STILL SEE, WE’LL LIKELY SEE SOME SNOW IN THESE REGIONS. WE’LL ALSO SEE A LOT OF MIXING THAT THIS MODEL ISN’T SHOWING IN THOSE REGIONS. SO SNOWFALL TOTALS GOING TO BE A LOT LESS ACROSS NORTHERN KENTUCKY, SOUTH CENTRAL OHIO, AND EVEN AROUND CINCINNATI. IT’S GOING TO BE HIT AND MISS WITH JUST HOW MUCH ACCUMULATION WE CAN GET. BECAUSE AS THIS MOVES OFF TO THE EAST BY THE OVERNIGHT HOURS INTO SUNDAY, WE’RE ALREADY DEALING WITH SOME RAIN ON THE WAY, WHICH IS ALSO GOING TO LESSEN SOME OF THAT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION OR ALSO MELTS. ANYTHING THAT’S ON THE GROUND, COMPACTED TURN IT INTO SLUSH. AND THEN AS WE GO THROUGH THE REST OF YOUR SUNDAY MORNING, THAT LAST BIT OF RAIN MOVES THROUGH WITH JUST A FEW FLURRIES AROUND IN THE FORECAST. SO AS FAR AS ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL, THE BETTER CHANCES REALLY ARE IN THOSE AREAS WHERE WE SEE THAT WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY AT THIS TIME. STILL EXPECTING AROUND AN INCH, TWO PLUS INCHES IN SOME OF THOSE AREAS, ESPECIALLY FURTHER TO THE NORTH AND EAST, NORTH AND WEST, RATHER. BUT IT’S BASICALLY LINED UP IF YOU CAN, ONLY IF YOU CAN ALMOST IMAGINE 71 HERE. SO NORTHWEST OF THAT, NORTH OF 275 AND ALMOST NORTH OF 74 AS WELL. SEEING KIND OF THAT REGION OF SNOWFALL TOTALS FOR NORTHERN KENTUCKY, SOUTH CENTRAL OHIO, MAYBE HARD TO SEE ANY TYPE OF ACCUMULATION BESIDES SOME LIGHT SNOW FALLING THROUGH THE SKY AND THEN BASICALLY MELTING ON CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. EITHER WAY, YOU STILL WANT TO BE CAUTIOUS OUT THERE ON THE ROADWAYS WITH THE FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL LIKELY HAVE SOME SLICK SPOTS OUT THERE, AND ANY SNOW THAT STARTS TO STICK TO THE PAVEMENT CAN BECOME SLICK AS WELL. SO TEMPERATURES OUT THERE TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW MORNING, WE’LL GET DOWN INTO LOWER 20S BY TOMORROW MORNING, AND THEN WE’LL START TO SLOW CLIMB THROUGH THE 20S ONLY INTO THE MID TO UPPER 30S. WE KIND OF ACTUALLY CLIMB THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING, WHICH IS HOW WE GET A LITTLE BIT OF THAT MIXING IN PLACE AS WELL. BUT AFTER SUNDAY WE’LL HAVE THE MID 30S. THAT SYSTEM MOVES OUT EARLY AND THEN WE’RE RIGHT BACK INTO ANOTHER SYSTEM, MIDNIGHT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY. WE’RE GOING TO BE SEEING ANOTHER WINTER WEATHER MAKER MOVE INTO OUR AREA, PROVIDING US ANOTHER SHOT OF ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL. SOME SLICK ROADWAYS OUT THERE, SO WE’LL HAVE TO WATCH THAT ON TUESDAY. OTHERWISE, THAT WINTER CHILL STAYING IN THE FORECAS
