Game preview

The Washington Capitals (6-4-0) are finally back at it Wednesday night, hosting the Philadelphia Flyers (3-7-4) at Capital One Arena in their final game of a season-long five-game homestand. And if it’s felt like forever since the Capitals last played — it has! This is just the team’s third game in the last 11 days after two seperate three-day breaks.

The Capitals are coming off a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday (which feels like a millennia ago), where Alex Tuch scored twice against his former team, including the game-winner. Washington will look to build on that momentum against a struggling Flyers team that sits at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division and is playing the second half of a back-to-back after losing to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Logan Thompson is back between the pipes after missing Saturday’s game with a lower-body injury. The Capitals will also have a new face on their blue line, as waiver pickup Jack St. Ivany will make his DC debut alongside Cole Hutson.

Puck drop is at 7:30 pm on TNT. Yeah, no Joe B and Locker. I’m sad, too. Follow along below for live updates, highlights, and analysis throughout the game.
