Kurt Warner shares his expectations for Burrow, Bengals

During analysis on NFL Network ahead of an NFL Week 9 game against the Atlanta Falcons in Madrid, Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner said he thinks his NFL Most Valuable Player pick, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, can lead Cincinnati back to the Super Bowl.

“I think he can carry (the Bengals) as far as they want to go, you know, which is winning it all,” Warner said. “I just think he’s playing so well. I think he was the one that said he is the window as long as he is playing. You know that the window to get a championship is always open.”

“I know they’re not running the football very well – 30th in the league,” Warner added. “But when they went to the Super Bowl back in (2021), they were 23rd in the league and they had struggled to play defense and they struggled to block for Joe Burrow when he dropped back and he still got them all the way to the Super Bowl and they had a chance to win that football game.”

“But those two guys on the outside with the way Joe Burrow is playing at the quarterback position, that’s what it’s all about is do you have the ability to go swing for swing with every team in the AFC,” Warner continued. “I do believe this team has that swing in them because of the way this guy’s playing. So I know it’s not perfect across the board. We’d like to, you know, be a little better on defense and we’d like to run the ball a little bit better. But with this guy playing at this level, I believe he can take them to the Super Bowl again.”

In September, Warner said he believed the key to the Bengals-Bucs season opener was how Burrow responded to Tampa Bay’s blitz.

Warner, a long-time family friend of Burrow’s parents, introduced Burrow just before Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named as the 2024 winner of the award during Thursday night’s NFL Honors.

Warner revealed in 2022 that Burrow was his pick for NFL MVP that season.
