The Athletics are in town for a three-game series before the Sox leave for Toronto.
After a marathon, 13-inning win on Thursday, Boston will hope for a deep outing from lefthander Payton Tolle to give the bullpen a rest. The Red Sox have won each of Tolle’s last five starts, including a July 27 win over the Athletics in Sacramento.
The Athletics will give the ball to Jack Perkins for a pitching rematch from that game out West.
First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. at Fenway and on NESN. Here’s a preview.

Stat of the day: The Red Sox became the first team to sweep six teams who entered the series first in their division since divisions began in 1969.
Notes: The Red Sox never led in Thursday’s game, only going ahead for good on Durbin’s walk-off single in the 13th. “Everybody’s exhausted,” Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said after the 4-hour, 23-minute marathon. “And it feels much better to be exhausted with a win than it does if you lost.” … Tracy used nine pitchers, with Brayan Bello picking up the win for two innings of relief only two days after a three-inning stint. “We’re so deep right now. We trust everyone,” Durbin said. “It’s special. A fun group to be a part of.” … Tolle has struck out at least six batters in each of his last five games (all Sox wins), including seven in a six-inning, two-run outing Saturday in his team’s 3-2 victory at the Dodgers. … The Athletics are looking to curb an eight-game losing streak which began with back-to-back losses to complete a four-game series against the Red Sox in Sacramento last week.
