When Logan Roy (Brian Cox), the CEO of a serious media conglomerate, suffers a serious well being scare, his 4 youngsters and a number of other of his staff start scrambling for the title of CEO. Sadly for them, the Roy siblings, as Logan ultimately says, are “not critical folks,” having all been alternately spoiled, coddled and abused by their rich household. Connor (Alan Ruck) Kendall (Jeremy Robust), Siobhan (Sarah Snook) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) will continuously shock you with their potential to backstab and lie, even to themselves.
But regardless of the high-stakes drama, the writing on Succession is a number of the most darkly humorous materials you may ever hear. Siobhan’s husband Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) and the ever-scheming Cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun) are as slimy as they’re duplicitous. It is endlessly entertaining to look at these maladapted youngsters squabble over billions, with little thought to the real-world penalties of their habits.
Succession took house a number of Emmys throughout its run and with good purpose. The twists are thrilling, the performances are nice and the insights into the lives of the privileged class are perceptive and stunning.
